Feature update

Review task and AI access, plus a faster authenticator login

Task visibility, AI access and hidden buttons for members just got tighter — plus authenticator login and smarter browser sessions.

This update tightens how permissions work across Chronly, fixes buttons that used to show before failing, and adds a faster way to sign in. If your team has member-level users, it is worth a quick check of their permissions after reading this.

Tasks are now private by default

Previously, anyone who could open a job could also see every task on that job. That is no longer the case. Members now only see tasks they created, are assigned to, or are watching — even on a job page — unless they have one of two new permissions.

Tasks and AI permissions in a member's permission settings

In Settings, under a member's permissions, you now have:

  • See All Tasks — shows every task in the company, not just their own.
  • See All Job Tasks — on any job they can open, shows every task on that job, not just their own.

If your team relies on members seeing each other's tasks on shared jobs, check their permissions now and turn on See All Job Tasks or See All Tasks as needed. Without one of these, task lists will look emptier than before — that is the fix working as intended.

The AI menu is now admin and owner only

The AI menu previously showed for every user, including members, who could also turn AI on themselves. It now only appears for admins and owners by default. If you want a member to see or toggle AI settings, give them the new AI permission under View or Edit in their permission settings — View shows the AI settings and follow-up pipeline, Edit turns AI features on or off for the whole company.

Buttons now hide instead of fail

If a member does not have permission to do something, the button for it is now hidden by default rather than shown and then throwing an error when clicked — for example, a Delete option on a quote, or a Create button a member could not actually use. This affects buttons across the portal, not just one screen.

Scheduling and calendar access is more accurate

Owners, admins and members who already have access to a job or calendar now show up correctly on the scheduling screen. Previously some of these users were incorrectly shown as having no access, or with roles that would never actually apply.

Sign in with an authenticator app

You can now scan a QR code into your authenticator app of choice for a quicker login, instead of waiting on an email code each time. Email multi-factor authentication stays on as a backup, so you cannot get locked out of your account even if you lose access to your authenticator.

Browser sessions are no longer remembered by default

Chronly will no longer remember your browser automatically. If you check the public computer tickbox at login, it will remember your browser more reliably than before. If you do not check it, you will be asked to sign in again next time, which is safer on a shared or public device.

What this means for you

If you manage a team, go through member permissions for tasks and AI and confirm they match what each person should actually see. Everything else here should just work better without any action needed.
